Classic Mashed Potatoes

Yield: 4 servings

  • 2lbs Idaho potatoes
  • ½ lb butter
  • 1 ½ c heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Pot
  • Spoon
  • Hand mixer
  • Colander
  • Vegetable peeler
  • Cutting board
  • Knife

Peel and cut potatoes into chunks and place in pot full of water. Bring to a boil and cook until soft. Time will vary depending on the size of the potato chunks—you will know they are ready when a fork breaks them without any force.

Strain the water and place the butter in the bottom of the pot and place potatoes back in on top. On low, start to blend the potatoes. Add salt and pepper and heavy cream. Turn up to high speed and blend until fluffy. Adjust salt and pepper to desired taste.
